What is ELDT and who has to complete it?
Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) is the FMCSA rule, in effect since February 7, 2022, that requires new drivers to complete theory and behind-the-wheel training from a provider listed on the Training Provider Registry before taking the CDL skills test. It applies to drivers getting a Class A or B CDL for the first time, upgrading from Class B to A, or adding a passenger, school bus, or hazmat endorsement for the first time.
Can I deliver ELDT theory training online with FreshLearn?
Yes. The theory portion of ELDT can be delivered online, and FreshLearn handles the whole journey: enrollment, lessons, graded assessments, and completion certificates. Behind-the-wheel training still has to happen in person on the range and public road, so most providers pair online theory on FreshLearn with their own in-person sessions.
Does FreshLearn register me on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry?
No. Training providers register themselves on FMCSA's Training Provider Registry (TPR) and submit each student's completion there. FreshLearn gives you what you need for those submissions — each student's assessment score and completion date — so reporting is quick instead of a hunt through spreadsheets.
Can I require the 80% minimum score on theory assessments?
Yes. FMCSA requires students to score at least 80% overall on the theory assessment. On FreshLearn you set the pass mark, limit attempts, and draw questions from a larger bank, and the certificate is only issued once the student passes.
Can FreshLearn issue ELDT completion certificates?
Yes. Certificates are generated automatically when a student completes, in the format you need — with the student's details, the program, the completion date, and your provider information. CDL Missions uses this to issue certificates in their required ELDT format without any manual work.
Can I charge different prices for in-state and out-of-state students?
Yes. You can offer separate pricing options for the same program — for example in-state and out-of-state rates, or cash and card pricing — all through a checkout page connected directly to your own Stripe account.
Do you charge transaction fees on course sales?
No. FreshLearn charges 0% transaction fees on every plan. Payments go through your own Stripe account and are paid out directly to your bank — FreshLearn never holds your money.
Can you move my courses and students from my current LMS?
Yes, for free. Our team migrates your website, courses, and past enrollments, so current students carry on without starting over. CDL Missions moved their entire ELDT classroom to FreshLearn this way.
