SMTP

This section explains about SMTP Feature easily converts your customers into your brand ambassadors.

SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. This protocol is used to send emails from your own email address from other third party applications.

SMTP is a standard protocol being used across the world by every application.

You can now set up the SMTP in FreshLearn and send emails from your mail servers and your own email address.

Let’s see how to set up SMTP in FreshLearn

  • Login to your FreshLearn admin account.
  • Go to Settings → Integration Settings.
  • Click on Enable
  • Now, here you will see a set of six input fields which you need to fill in.

    • Sender Email : This is the email address from which you wish to send the emails.
    • Sender Name : The name which the recipient mail box should show.
    • User Name : The user name of your email account from which email will go.
    • Password : The password of your email account.
    • Server Address : This is a standard smtp address each provider gives. For example, gmail server address for smtp is : smtp.gmail.com
    • Port : This is the TLS port from with the email server will send address. This is also dependent on each provider. For gmail it is : 587.

    Click on Save and done !! All the email communication now will happen from your email address only.

    Test if the SMTP is working properly or not by clicking on the “Test Email” option. An email will come to the email id from which you are logged into FreshLearn.


Setting SMTP for Gmail


Gmail now has changed the way the SMTP feature can be accessed. Hence below is a detailed explanation on how you can set up for your gmail account.

  • Now go to your Gmail account.
  • Click on Settings.
  • Click on Security.
  • Activate 2 Step Verification.
  • Once after 2 Step Verification was done successfully you will see it as On.

    Once your two step verification is On. You can now generate the password for SMTP. Click on App Password.

    • Click on Select App.
    • Choose Other (Custom name).
    • Now add your App Name. For easier understanding you can add as FreshLearn.
    • Click on Generate.
    • Save the Password and make sure that you keep the password very because once it got missed then it can’t be retrieved.

Note:The above one's for our specific email id. You will get something similar as well.

Now Come back to the FreshLearn account SMTP area and fill out the form with the below details.

  • Sender Email: Your required email address.
  • Sender Name: Your Name or Company Name.
  • User Name: Same Email as you added in the Sender Email area.
  • Password: Add your password which was generated at your Gmail → Applications.
  • Server Address: smtp.gmail.com
  • Port: 587

Note:These Server Address and Port Number will be constant for all customers.

Once all this was done, Click on Save .

Now click on Test Email and you can see a success message.

Now go to your email account (Admin Email only) and you can find a success message - Woohoo !! Your smtp settings in FreshLearn are working.

This way your members can get verification emails with your required name and email.
